Terms of Service

Effective date: [INSERT DATE] · Last updated: [INSERT DATE]

These Terms govern your use of CADBOX, a browser-based CAD and 3D file viewer at cadbox.app. They're written to match how CADBOX actually works. By using CADBOX, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the Service. This is a companion to the Privacy Policy.

The short version

1. Who can use CADBOX

You may use CADBOX if you can form a binding agreement with us under the laws of your jurisdiction. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction, if higher) to use the Service. If you use CADBOX on behalf of an organization, you confirm you're authorized to accept these Terms for it.

2. The Service

CADBOX reads and renders CAD and 3D files locally in your browser. By default, your files are not uploaded to any server. The Service includes viewing, exploding assemblies, inspecting and hiding parts, annotating, drawing, generating technical drawings, glossy surface-continuity review, and optionally creating share links. Available features may change as CADBOX develops.

3. Your files and content

You keep all rights to the files you open in CADBOX. We don't claim ownership of your models, drawings, annotations, or comments.

You are solely responsible for the files you open, process, and share. By using CADBOX with a file, you confirm that:

To provide the Service, you grant us only the limited, technical permission needed to process and display your file as you direct — for example, to store and serve a file when you choose to create a hosted share link (see Section 4). We don't use your files for any other purpose.

4. Sharing and public links

CADBOX lets you create a link that opens your model — optionally with your notes and drawings. Treat every share link as public:

Do not create share links for models you would not be comfortable making public, including confidential, proprietary, classified, or export-controlled designs. We are not responsible for who accesses a link once you create and distribute it.

Hosted links and stored files may be removed, expire, or change over time, including as part of maintenance or cleanup. Don't rely on a CADBOX link as permanent storage or as your only copy of a file.

5. Email and communications

If you give us your email (for example, to unlock additional sharing or to send feedback), you agree we may use it to operate the Service and to send occasional product updates. You can unsubscribe from non-essential messages at any time. We handle your email as described in the Privacy Policy, and we don't sell it.

6. Acceptable use

Don't use CADBOX to:

We may limit or end access for anyone who misuses the Service.

7. Availability

CADBOX is under active development and offered on an as-available basis. We don't guarantee uptime, uninterrupted access, that any feature will keep working, or that links and stored files will persist. We may add, change, suspend, or remove features at any time.

8. Accuracy — important

CADBOX is a viewer and review aid, not a metrology, certification, or engineering tool. Geometry is tessellated and approximated for display; measurements, deviation coloring, auto-alignment, diffs, surface-continuity reflections, and generated drawings are approximate and provided for reference only. Different files, tolerances, and settings can produce different results.

Do not rely on CADBOX output as the basis for manufacturing, fabrication, compliance, or safety-critical decisions. Always verify against your authoritative source files and your own qualified review.

9. Intellectual property

CADBOX — including its software, design, interface, and branding — belongs to us and our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use CADBOX for its intended purpose, subject to these Terms. These Terms don't transfer any of our rights to you, and all rights not expressly granted are reserved.

CADBOX relies on third-party open-source and hosted components, which remain the property of their respective owners and are used under their own licenses.

10. Third-party services

CADBOX depends on third-party services to run, which may include a code/asset CDN, web fonts, file storage, web hosting, and analytics (see the Privacy Policy for the current list). Your use of CADBOX may also be subject to those providers' terms. We don't control these services and aren't responsible for their availability, performance, or practices.

11. No warranty

CADBOX IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR THAT ANY OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE OR RELIABLE. YOU USE CADBOX AT YOUR OWN RISK.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR BUSINESS, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF — OR INABILITY TO USE — CADBOX, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF USD $100 OR THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM.

Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from files you open or share through CADBOX, your violation of these Terms, or your misuse of the Service.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as CADBOX evolves. If we make material changes, we'll update the date above and post the new version at this page. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Termination

You can stop using CADBOX at any time. We may suspend or end your access to the Service, or remove hosted content, at our discretion — for example, for misuse or to protect the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive (ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, governing law) continue to apply.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [YOUR JURISDICTION], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of [YOUR JURISDICTION], unless applicable law requires otherwise.
